JOB TITLE: Food Service Cashier
SUPERVISOR: Principal, Food Service Director, and Food Service Manager
EXEMPT STATUS: Non-Exempt
WORK YEAR: Up to 183 Days (4 hours per day)
BASIC FUNCTION: To maintain accurate records and deposits for a sound financial accounting system in the local food service program.
REPRESENTATIVE DUTIES:
- Assist in assuring quality of school food service program; assist in assuring food quality, nutritional requirements, safety, sanitation, management practices, and special meals production meet District/school standards
- Counts money and prepares appropriate amount and denominations of change
- Sells a variety of foods and beverages and makes proper change
- Plans and completes work on timely basis
- Shows an interest and concern for the total school program and its efficient operation
- Is consistently responsible and displays an attitude of honesty and credibility
- Maintains work area in a neat and organized manner
- Acts in accordance with the policies as set forth by the Breckinridge County Board of Education, KRS, KAR, and applicable Federal laws and regulations
- Demonstrates loyalty, dedication, and a positive attitude toward the mission and goals of the Breckinridge County Schools
- Is punctual and prepared for immediate assumption of duties upon arrival at school
- Utilizes time appropriately and maintains good attendance
- Perform other duties as assigned
KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES
KNOWLEDGE OF THE FOLLOWING:
- Nutrition requirements and principles of good nutrition and quantity food preparation and service
- Basic math and cashier skills
- Price and portion controls
- Food handling, safety, and sanitation standards and techniques
- Operation of manual and computer-assisted accounting, budget control, and record management systems
- Federal program guidelines governing child nutrition programs
- Organization and planning methods, trends, techniques, and practices
ABILITIES:
- Learn and follow health and sanitation requirements
- Operate food service technology and make change accurately
- Learn, apply and explain policies, procedures, rules and regulations
- Meet schedules and timelines
- Effectively and efficiently operate computers and other machines and equipment
- Understand and carry out oral and written directions
- Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus
and peripheral vision.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Any combination equivalent to: high school diploma or G.E.D. Certificate as required by Kentucky law
- Must possess a valid Kentucky driver's license.
- Has met the requirements for criminal records check and child abuse and neglect check as specified by Kentucky State Law
- Must be able to perform basic bookkeeping and operate food service technology
- Must demonstrate or develop skills in the use and care of conventional or electronic accounting equipment
- Must complete and maintain certification for school food services personnel and Level III ASFSA certification
