Essential Job Functions
- Maintain safety and security of the jail facility
- Monitor inmates and facility activity
- Complete reports and documentation
- Assist deputies and staff as needed.
Preferred Talents:
- Strong leadership skills.
- Knowledge of jail operations, inmate rights, and correctional standards.
- Ability to manage emergencies and high-stress situations calmly and effectively.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in jail management software and reporting systems.
- Strong organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Ability to obtain certification as a jailer or correctional officer under Nebraska state regulations.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
- Previous experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk, hear, sit, stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel. This position is occasionally required to run, climb, balance, crouch, and crawl. The employee is frequently required to lift and carry up to 25lbs. This position can require performing strenuous tasks requiring muscular strength and coordination.
Working Environment:
While performing the essential duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to interactions with physically violent and/or mentally or emotionally disturbed persons. The employee may come into physical contact with a member of the public, an inmate, or an arrestee by touching, controlling, sitting by, riding with and body searching the individual.
