What are the responsibilities and job description for the Day Shift Voortman Operator position at CUST-O-FAB?
The Voortman Operator is responsible for the operation for plasma coding and processing robot:
- Operate 8 axis Voortman plasma robot using pedestal style console and handheld remotes
- Read prints for required specifications and dimensions
- Make accurate decision for the robot to process material to meet fabrication needs
- Measure parts using different measuring tools (tape measure, dial calipers, dial indicators, micrometers)
- Remove slag using grinders, chatter guns and files
- Operate overhead cranes and forklifts to move and load material into the robot
- Use fabrication tools (weld, cut, torch, drill) for any root needs and maintenance
Knowledge, skills and abilities
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- 2 years CNC Drill experience required
- 1 year of Manufacturing experience required
- Problem solving capabilities
- High organizational skills: must keep track of multiple jobs, material, and parts at all times to support all of Cust-O-Fab’s shop manufacturing needs
- Understand steel fabrication processes to make accurate decisions for robot processing
- Ability to communicate in terms of technical support to robot manufacturer
- Ability to learn and follow all safety rules
- Ability to follow instructions
- Ability to work overtime
Physical requirements
Ability to lift 50 lbs., sit, stand, walk, climb stairs, reach, etc. Work environment may include high noise areas, working at heights, confined spaces, congested work sites, shift work, duration rotations, shop setting, etc.
