Job Title Apprentice Engineer Job Description Summary Responsible to assist with the operation troubleshooting, diagnostics, housekeeping, and repairs on commercial buildings, industrial systems, vehicles, grounds, and maintenance equipment for assigned properties/facilities. Job Description Education High School Diploma or GED equivalent Experience 2 years of related experience in a commercial property setting Essential Functions and Responsibilities Assist with troubleshooting and repairs of buildings and installed systems, including: Packaging and handling machinery Plumbing systems Kitchen equipment Roofs, drains, shop and grounds equipment HVAC systems Clean, lubricate, and service pumps, valves, pneumatic controls, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic devices. Assist with installation and modification of building equipment and systems. Replace and repair building finishes (ceiling tiles, door hardware, wallpaper) and paint walls, piping, floors, and equipment. Troubleshoot, evaluate, and recommend upgrades to maintenance operations or cost-saving opportunities. Possess competent knowledge of tools and equipment used in facility and grounds maintenance. Respond immediately to emergency situations and customer service requests. Inspect buildings, grounds, and equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning conditions and perform preventive maintenance. Maintain and operate fire and life safety systems, including fire alarms, fire pumps, and related equipment. Perform carpentry and snow removal when necessary. Comply with all applicable codes, regulations, and company directives; practice safe work habits. Use technology such as smartphones, tablets, computers, web-based applications, and building automation systems. Complete all required C&W Safety Training annually. Comply with C&W Uniform Dress Code and maintain a neat, clean appearance on property. Additional Qualifications Technical, vocational, or on-the-job training in at least one area: HVAC, electrical, mechanical, process controls, power transmissions, painting, plumbing, carpentry, or engine repair. Valid driver’s license (commercial license may be required) and good driving record. Basic computing skills in Outlook, Excel, and Word. May be the only maintenance staff member on duty during certain shifts; may require extended hours, overtime, shift work, or on-call duties. Work Environment Professional office environment. Routine use of standard office equipment (computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines). Physical Demands Regular communication and accurate information exchange. Operate computers and office equipment. Move about the workplace; remain stationary about 10% of the time. Extend hands and arms in any direction.
