What are the responsibilities and job description for the Substitute Nurse position at Cushing Academy?
This position does not require a minimum number of hours. The pay rate will be determined based on years of experience. Shift differentials are not provided.
The Health Services Nurse provides professional health care to students and coordinates continued health care with allied healthcare professionals. Applies appropriate theory from nursing and associated areas to meet and uphold the school's mission statement. Uses a systematic approach to problem-solving in nursing practice. Contributes to the education of students with and without special needs by continuous assessment of the student, planning and providing appropriate nursing care, and evaluating outcomes of care. Uses effective written, verbal, and non-verbal communication skills. Maintains a comprehensive school health program as established by the Director of Health & Wellness. Assists students, families, and the school community to achieve optimal levels of wellness through appropriately designed and delivered health education. Promotes quality of care, pursues continued professional enhancement, and demonstrates professional conduct.
- Graduate from an Accredited Nursing Program
- Current Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse license within the state of Massachusetts
- Current BLS certification with updates annually
- Experience in the triage process and outpatient health setting
- Ability to communicate well with students, parents, and fellow professionals
- Keen analytical skills and a detail-oriented work style
- Clinical experience with adolescent health preferred
