What are the responsibilities and job description for the Registered Nurse position at Cushing Academy?
The Registered Nurse position offers a $1,000 sign-on bonus, payable in two equal payments after successfully completing 6 months and 12 months of service.
This is a 40-hour per week position when Health Services is open. This position will primarily work days and evenings, with every other weekend. However, you may be asked to flex shifts (days, evenings, nights, hybrid shifts, weekends, and holidays) to meet the needs of students.
The Health Services Registered Nurse provides professional health care to students and coordinates continued health care with allied healthcare professionals. Applies appropriate theory from nursing and associated areas to meet and uphold the school's mission statement. Uses a systematic approach to problem-solving in nursing practice. Contributes to the education of the student with and without special needs by continuous assessment of the student, planning and providing appropriate nursing care, and evaluating outcomes of care. Uses effective written, verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Maintains a comprehensive school health program established by the Director of Health & Wellness. Assists students, families, and the school community in achieving optimal levels of wellness through appropriately designed and delivered health education. Promotes quality of care, pursues continued professional enhancement, and demonstrates professional conduct.
Qualifications:
● Graduate from an Accredited Nursing Program.
● Current Registered Nurse licensed within the state of Massachusetts
● Current BLS certification with updates annually
● Experience in the triage process and outpatient health setting
● Ability to communicate well with students, parents, and fellow professionals
● Keen analytical skills and a detail-oriented work style
● Clinical experience with adolescent health preferred
