Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious individual to join our team as a NCCCO Certified Crane Operator/Heavy Equipment Operator. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating various types of cranes and heavy equipment in a construction setting. This position requires meticulous attention to detail, excellent hand-eye coordination, and a strong commitment to safety protocols.

Responsibilities

  • Operate cranes and heavy equipment according to manufacturer specifications and job site requirements.
  • Perform daily inspections of equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety compliance.
  • Safely lift, move, and position materials and equipment using cranes and other heavy machinery.
  • Interpret and follow blueprints, sketches, and instructions to determine proper equipment operation and placement.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate lifting and movement activities.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and guidelines, including OSHA standards, to minimize accidents and injuries.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment inspections, maintenance, and operating logs.
  • Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions and perform minor repairs as needed.
  • Assist with rigging and securing loads for safe transport.
  • Follow established procedures for rigging, hoisting, and signaling during lifting operations.

Qualifications

  • NCCCO certification for crane operation is required.
  • Prior experience in developing, understanding, and executing a lift plan.
  • Proven experience operating various types of cranes and heavy equipment, such as mobile cranes, crawler cranes, excavators, bulldozers, and forklifts.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and procedures related to crane and heavy equipment operation.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical documents.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and spatial awareness.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions and environments.
  • Physical stamina and strength to perform lifting and manual labor tasks.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to quality workmanship.
  • Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
  • Experience supporting and working around bridge structures.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience in the construction or industrial sector.
  • Additional certifications in heavy equipment operation or rigging.
  • Familiarity with computerized crane control systems.
  • Knowledge of basic mechanical principles and equipment maintenance procedures.

This position involves working outdoors in various weather conditions and may require lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods. The job may also involve exposure to loud noises, vibrations, and hazardous materials. Proper personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn as required.
