Position Title: Construction Recruiter

Location: West Point, VA

Reports To: Operations Manager

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Construction Recruiter to join our growing team. As a Construction Recruiter, you will be responsible for sourcing, interviewing, and hiring top talent for various construction roles, from entry-level laborers to highly skilled professionals, such as project managers and site supervisors. You will collaborate with hiring managers and department heads to understand their staffing needs and help build strong, efficient construction teams that align with company goals and project timelines. May require other administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities

• Talent Sourcing:
• Proactively source and attract qualified candidates through job boards, networking, referrals, social media, and industry-specific platforms.
• Develop and maintain a pool of candidates for high-demand positions.
• Attend job fairs and other recruitment events to network with potential candidates.
• Recruitment & Screening:
• Review resumes, conduct interviews, and assess candidates’ qualifications for various construction roles.
• Evaluate the suitability of candidates for both technical skills and cultural fit within the company.
• Administer skills tests and background checks as needed.
• Client Collaboration:
• Work closely with construction managers, project managers, and HR teams to define the job requirements and qualifications for each position.
• Provide guidance to hiring managers on recruitment best practices and assist in creating compelling job descriptions.
• Candidate Management:
• Maintain regular communication with candidates throughout the hiring process to ensure a positive candidate experience.
• Provide feedback to candidates and manage expectations throughout the selection process.
• Offer Negotiation & Onboarding:
• Extend job offers and handle the negotiation of salaries, benefits, and other employment terms.
• Oversee the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring all necessary paperwork and compliance documents are completed.
• Database & Reporting:
• Maintain an up-to-date database of applicants, tracking candidate progress and providing reports on recruitment activities.
• Track recruitment metrics (time-to-fill, cost-per-hire, etc.) and suggest improvements to optimize processes.
• Compliance & Industry Knowledge:
• Stay up to date with construction industry trends, labor laws, and regulations related to hiring and employment.
• Ensure all recruitment activities comply with legal and company policies.
  
  

Skills & Qualifications

• Experience:
• Minimum of [2-5 years] experience as a recruiter, with a focus on construction or trade industries.
• Proven experience in recruiting for a variety of construction roles, including but not limited to laborers, carpenters, electricians, project managers, and foremen.
• Skills:
• Strong understanding of the construction industry and the various skill sets required for construction roles.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to engage with both candidates and hiring managers.
• Familiarity with Applicant Tracking Systems (ATS) and recruitment tools.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple open positions simultaneously.
• Education:
• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
• Additional certifications or training in recruitment or construction management are a plus.
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in both office and field environments, including occasional site visits to assess candidate suitability for specific roles.
• Must be able to travel to construction sites and attend recruitment events as needed.
