Garage Door Technician

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and replace garage doors, openers, springs, cables, rollers, and hardware using appropriate hand tools and power tools
• Interpret technical drawings, schematics, and blueprints to accurately execute installation and repair tasks
• Conduct metal stud framing, trim carpentry, caulking, fixture installation, and cabinet installation as needed for door setups
• Perform electrical work related to garage door openers including wiring and troubleshooting electrical components
• Ensure compliance with building codes and safety standards during all installation and repair activities
• Use welding and fabrication techniques for custom modifications or repairs when necessary
• Lift heavy equipment safely while adhering to proper lifting techniques; perform heavy lifting tasks regularly on construction sites

Qualifications

• Proven experience in construction, remodeling, or handyman work with a focus on door hanging or installation projects
• Mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience using hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and schematics reading
• Strong understanding of electrical systems related to garage doors and openers
• Ability to interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and schematics accurately
• Construction site experience with metal stud framing, carpentry (including trim carpentry), locksmithing or fixture installation preferred
• Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly with clients about work performed
• Knowledge of building code compliance standards applicable to garage door systems
• Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and operate on elevated or confined spaces safely
