Basic Qualifications
Education/Training: High school diploma or equivalent. Apprentice or on-the-job training. Technical training or certification in diesel or heavy equipment repair preferred. JLG Hydraulic Experience Preferred.
Skill(s): Strong mechanical and technical knowledge; excellent problem-solving and diagnostic ability; demonstrated knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and engine systems; adept at using diagnostic tools and repair equipment; and excellent attention to detail and safety awareness.
Working Conditions: Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs.; ability to work in indoor/outdoor shop conditions; operate heavy machinery, power tools, or equipment; work at elevated heights or in confined spaces; handle hazardous, volatile, or flammable materials and operate a motor vehicle or commercial vehicle, requiring a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
Experience: Minimum of one-year related experience.
General Responsibilities
The Mechanic ensures that trucks, machinery, and mechanical equipment operate safely and efficiently. Responsibilities include diagnosing problems, performing repairs, and carrying out routine maintenance to prevent breakdowns.
This position is classified as safety sensitive. Successful candidates must comply with all company safety policies and procedures, including the company’s drug- and alcohol-free workplace requirements. Individuals in this role are subject to pre-employment, random, post-incident, and reasonable suspicion drug and alcohol testing, consistent with applicable law and company policy. Violations of these policies may result in disciplinary action, up to and including termination of employment.
Essential Duties
1. Inspect engines, hydraulic systems, electrical components, and other parts.
2. Diagnose mechanical issues using testing equipment and software.
3. Repair or replace defective parts (e.g., engines, brakes, transmissions).
4. Perform routine maintenance like oil changes, lubrication, and filter replacement.
5. Keep maintenance records and reports.
6. Follow safety procedures and regulations.
7. Test equipment after repairs to ensure proper performance.
8. Abide by the current laws and organizational policies and procedures designed and implemented to promote an environment which is free of harassment and other forms of illegal discriminatory behavior in the workplace.
9. Cooperate with, participate in, and support the adherence to all internal policies, procedures, and practices in support of risk management and overall safety and soundness and the company’s compliance with all regulatory requirements.
10. Report pertinent information to the immediate supervisor as requested, or according to an established schedule; compile information as necessary or as directed and provide data to appropriate personnel.
11. Respond to inquiries relating to his/her particular area, or to requests from customers, other personnel, etc., within given time frames and within established policy.
Pay: $25.00 - $30.00 per hour
