We also serve as the association management company for two leading industry trade associations - IVODGA and COSTHA. We are seeking a strategic and experienced Vice President / Executive Director to join our leadership team and support the growth, operations, and client services of our organization.
Position Summary
Currie Associates is seeking a dynamic and experienced Vice President of Operations / Executive Director to join our leadership team. This is a dual-role position that supports the internal operations of Currie Associates while also serving as Executive Director for two leading trade associations—COSTHA (Council on Safe Transportation of Hazardous Articles) and IVODGA (International Vessel Operators Dangerous Goods Association).
This individual will play a critical role in overseeing strategic business operations, managing consulting and training engagements, supporting business development, and executing trade association programs and events. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operations, association management, and leadership—with a passion for organizational efficiency and stakeholder engagement.
Key Responsibilities:
Operations & Project Leadership:
- Oversee internal operations, project delivery, and client services
- Coordinate project schedules, budgets, staffing, and quality assurance
- Lead cross-functional teams and manage internal processes
- Support HR functions including recruitment, onboarding, and performance evaluations
- Liaise with IT and vendors for technology and infrastructure support
Executive Director:
- Provide executive-level leadership for two trade associations
- Support board governance, committee engagement, and strategic planning
- Oversee membership programs, services, and communications
- Lead event planning for annual conferences and quarterly meetings
- Manage budgets, dues processing, and financial oversight (in coordination with EVP)
- Assist in developing and maintaining association policies and bylaws
Business Development:
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities
- Build relationships with clients and association members
- Draft proposals, statements of work, and manage contract negotiations
- Represent the company and associations at conferences, trade shows, and client meetings
Requirements – Education, Experience, and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Management, Marketing, or related field
- 8 years in operations, project management, or association leadership
- 4 years of direct experience in trade association management and event planning
- Strong leadership and strategic planning skills
- Excellent communication and presentation abilities
- Highly organized with strong project management experience
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and virtual meeting platforms
- Understanding of business functions like HR, finance, marketing, and IT
- Experience working with or managing trade associations.
