What are the responsibilities and job description for the Coordinator - LPAC position at Curriculum & Instruction?
Primary Purpose:
The LPAC Coordinator, under the direction of the Multilingual Education Director, facilitates and maintains a systematic approach to LPAC procedures and compliance, meeting district, state and federal guidelines regarding Bilingual and ESL education.
Qualifications/Certification:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in the field of education or a related field
Master’s degree preferred
Valid teaching certificate in the state of Texas in Bilingual or ESL education Bachelor's degree in the field of education or related field.
Experience:

Five (5) years or more related experience working with Emergent Bilinguals

Three (3) years or more serving on the campus LPAC Committee
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Knowledge of compliance regulations at the state and federal level regarding Bilingual and ESL Education, district policies, and current LPAC procedures
- Ability to interpret data
- Knowledge of planning, staff development, and accreditation
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational and technology skills
- Ability to demonstrate leadership and management skills, and relate positively to the staff
- Ability to develop and deliver training to adult learners
- Skilled in the use of computers and computer software
- Speaks, reads, and writes Spanish (preferred)
Essential Job Functions:
- Oversees and leads the district-wide process to ensure compliance with state, federal, and district guidelines in regard to Emergent Bilinguals.
- Supports campuses through frequent communication and visits in ensuring compliance with all state, federal, and district policies for Emergent Bilinguals.
- Provides direct support to campus LPAC Contacts in ensuring appropriate assessment, identification, and placement of Emergent Bilinguals.
- Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
- Coordinate the ordering and use of departmental instructional aids and materials for assigned subject area.
- Verifies Emergent Bilingual enrollment, denials and monitored student status.
- Assists with LPAC folder audits across the district.
- Maintains accuracy in Frontline processes, such as data input, program updates, and communication to stakeholders.
- Coordinates with the PEIMS office to supply accurate data.
- Assists in analyzing district data and compiling the Exception and Waiver Report for submission to TEA.
- Supports campuses in ensuring their Oath and Affidavit (O&A) reports are resolved throughout the year in order to ensure appropriate funding for the district.
- Plan and provide staff development district-wide for campus administrators, and staff in designated campus LPAC administrators in ensuring appropriate assessment, identification, and placement of Emergent Bilinguals.
- Establish a database to track attendance and follow-up on all scheduled training.
- Secure consultants, speakers and presenters.
- Disseminate training information through district and department websites, professional development catalog, and newsletters.
- Performs all other duties and functions that may be assigned by the administrator and/or supervisor.
