Salary: $85,000 - $95,000
We have a growing team in Austin that meets to co-work a few times a month. This role is primarily remote, but we want to be able to meet in person on a monthly basis.
This position is ideal for someone with a strong MEP coordination and QA/QC background who enjoys working deeply in construction documents, understands how building systems intersect, and is motivated by improving outcomes behind the scenes rather than focusing purely on design authorship.
Success in this role means ensuring high-quality coordination reviews, strong document control, and well-prepared construction document (CD) overlays ready for reviewers. You’ll perform detailed MEP coordination and constructibility reviews, contribute to continuous improvement of the review process, and help maintain a high bar for drawing quality and cross-discipline alignment. As a key team member, you will help ensure reviews meet rigorous standards of constructability, code compliance, and system performance.
Responsibilities
- Support and lead construction document coordination reviews with a focus on MEP systems
- Perform detailed CD coordination and QA/QC reviews, emphasizing cross-discipline alignment, constructability, and risk reduction
- Review and coordinate mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems in relation to architectural and structural documents
- Create, manage, and mark up construction documents to identify discrepancies, conflicts, and coordination gaps
- Research and interpret applicable MEP codes, standards, and best practices to inform reviews and recommendations
- Contribute to improving the efficiency, consistency, and effectiveness of the coordination and constructibility review process
Qualifications
- 3 years of experience in MEP engineering, MEP coordination, or a closely related role within the design or construction industry
- Demonstrated experience performing construction document coordination and/or QA/QC reviews for MEP systems
- Background working in or closely with vertically integrated firms, ASMEP consultancies, design-build, design-develop, or prefab/modular workflows is strongly preferred
- Strong ability to identify coordination discrepancies across MEP, architectural, and structural disciplines and understand downstream construction impacts
- Excellent attention to detail and strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple reviews and priorities
- Clear verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to document and explain coordination issues
- Proficiency with industry tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, Bluebeam, and similar platforms (note: modeling/CAD production will be limited; reviews are performed primarily within our in-house software)
- Solid understanding of MEP systems, applicable building codes, construction methods, and construction document standards
- A practical, systems-oriented mindset with an interest in improving processes, quality, and outcomes
- Collaborative, self-directed, and comfortable working on a small team
This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced MEP engineer who wants to apply their coordination expertise at scale, influence how construction documents are reviewed, and contribute meaningfully to reducing waste across the industry.
