GENERAL PURPOSE OF JOB: Line Leader is responsible for knowing where each operator is at all times, coordinating lunch and break coverage, monitoring maintenance issues and response times, as well as informing supervisors of issues with staffing, major repairs, start up and shutdown concerns. The Line Lead will also act as a line operator when necessary to meet production demands.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain a safe working environment. Meet “Best In Class” expectations for housekeeping. Actively participate in CI (Continuous Improvement) Team activities. Monitor line operators to ensure efficient use of lunch and break periods. Coordinate filling efforts on the automated fill lines. Assure material is filled to precise specifications in clean and properly labeled packaging containers. Maintain a high level of communication with administrative and engineering teams to ensure concerns with the equipment or personnel are addressed appropriately. Unload raw materials/finished goods from truck. Move waste and pallets from receptacles to dumpsters. Operate within standard operating procedures (SOPs) and Job Safety Procedures. Operate forklift. Perform preventive maintenance (PMs) check on forklift and advise if service needed. Communicate with operators from other shifts. Turn off and lock out equipment when not in use. Perform back-up for other manufacturing team members. Provide on-the-job training to new employees. Other duties as assigned. (replenishing bins, reset floor plan, housekeeping of bathrooms/break room, etc).
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: Line lead is directly responsible for supervising line operators in the areas to which they are assigned.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma/G.E.D. required. Formal Lean or Six Sigma Training Required. Electric Pallet Rider and Reach Truck experience required. Forklift certification is required.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: For safety reasons, ability to read, write, and communicate in English is required. Must have ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional publications. Must have ability to write routine correspondence.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in units of measure, using whole numbers and fractions.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Distribution, Labs and Manufacturing: Some positions in Distribution, Labs and Manufacturing may have physical requirements that include, but are not limited to: (10) Lifting of items up to 65 pounds (11) Use of respirator
