Role Description The Resto-Mod Vehicle Technician will work on-site in Austin, TX in a hands-on, workshop environment, focusing on converting and upgrading fleet and vintage vehicles to electric powertrains. This contract role involves performing diagnostics, mechanical repairs, and custom resto-mod work, including removal of legacy components and installation of EV conversion kits and related systems. Day-to-day tasks include vehicle inspections, routine maintenance, suspension adjustments, and integration of new components while maintaining vehicle safety and drivability. The technician will collaborate with engineers and other technicians to follow build plans, troubleshoot issues, and document work performed. The role also includes maintaining a clean, safe workspace, adhering to safety protocols, and communicating progress and technical feedback to the project team.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in general Vehicle Maintenance and Maintenance & Repair for light-duty or vintage vehicles.
- Hands-on skills in Automotive Repair, including diagnostics, component replacement, and troubleshooting mechanical systems.
- Experience performing routine service tasks and basic safety inspections.
- Knowledge of Suspension systems, including inspection, repair, and tuning for ride quality and handling.
- Familiarity with electrical or EV systems, high-voltage safety, or a strong willingness to learn EV conversion practices.
- Ability to read and follow technical drawings, service manuals, and build instructions with strong attention to detail.
- Comfort working on-site in a shop environment, using hand and power tools, lifts, and diagnostic equipment safely.
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in automotive technology or related field is preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills, reliability, and the ability to collaborate effectively with a cross-functional team.
