Summary of Position

The Calibration / Metrology Technician is responsible for completing the pre-commissioning, calibration, and troubleshooting of multiple process instruments within his/her area. The successful candidate should be a problem solver experienced in the measurement and control of system pressures, weight, temperatures, conductivity, flow, and density.
Candidates should be knowledgeable of electrical theory and its practical applications, and should be able to inspect, calibrate, measure, and test equipment at prescribed intervals using established procedures with equipment traceable to a nationally recognized standard.
The successful candidate should be able to use multi-meters, standardized weights, pressure calibrators, flow meters, digital, RTD calibrators, and digital tachometers to conduct calibrations on process instrumentation.

Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm. Ability to work overtime as necessary.

Essential Functions
  • Must maintain operational compliance with US and international regulatory agencies and guidelines (i.e. FDA, DEA, EU, HC, TGA, PIC/S, ISO, USP, NRC, cGMP, etc.).
  • Must be able to work interactively with others to coordinate equipment availability, perform calibrations and document the test results as per scheduled intervals.
  • Coordinates calibrations with outside vendors and department managers on instruments that are coming due, documents the test results and returns the unit to service as per procedures.
  • Conduct calibrations using tools such as multimeters, standardized weights, pressure calibrators, flow meters, RTD calibrators, and digital tachometers.
  • Ensure compliance with established calibration procedures to national standards.
  • Maintain detailed records of calibration activities and generate necessary reports.
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot instrumentation issues
  • This role demands precision, technical expertise, and a strong commitment to upholding the highest standards of instrument calibration and system reliability.
  • Inspect, calibrate, and maintain process and critical utility instrumentation for accuracy and functionality.
  • Utilize calibrated test equipment for measurements and inspections.
  • Support plant operations through other assigned duties as required.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED equivalent is required.
  • Associate degree or equivalent certification program from a technical school with an emphasis on instrumentation controls preferred.
  • 1 or more years relevant work experience in manufacturing preferred (regulated environment, attention to detail, and following detailed instructions) as a calibration, service or maintenance technician.
  • Experience with FDA regulations and CGMP guidelines is highly preferred.
  • Experience with process control instrumentation calibration, troubleshooting, and repair is essential.
  • Working knowledge of Lock-Out/Tag-Out methods and related OSHA safety practices is essential.
  • Knowledge of multi-meters, frequency calibrators, and flow meters is required.

Working Conditions:

  • Willingness to work in plant producing radioactive materials and requiring all employees to participate in safety programs designed to minimize potential and/or actual exposure levels.
  • Responsibilities include the ability to lift up to 70 pounds, kneeling, crouching, twisting the upper body, walking, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, reaching, must be able to physically negotiate stairs and evacuation ladders with or without accommodation, wear and operate safety equipment, enter vessels, and inspect equipment.
  • Material handling devices (e.g., hand truck, fork truck, and conveyors) are used when possible, however, use of proper lifting and movement techniques is necessary to prevent injury.
  • Must be willing to wear a variety of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and hearing protection as needed.
  • May be required to sit or stand for long periods of 8 hours a day while performing duties.
  • Must possess good hand-eye coordination; close attention to detail is required.
  • Must be able to work indoors and outdoors with exposure to mechanical/moving parts, hazards including corrosive, flammable and toxic material, dust, dirt, odors, and irritants.
  • Willingness to complete safety training within allotted timeframes, and work in a team-based environment.
  • Must be able to work outside of regular work hours, including off shift, weekend, and holiday work as business needs require.
