Position Purpose

The Director of Data Science and Analytics serves a critical role at Curious Jane by driving advanced data analysis and strategic initiatives that significantly influence the agency’s business outcomes. This position involves designing and leading complex analytical projects that not only assess the effectiveness of advertising campaigns but also predict future market trends and consumer behavior. This role is key in developing predictive models and utilizing sophisticated analytical techniques to provide deep insights that guide decision-making at high levels. This leader is responsible for mentoring analysts and collaborating directly with senior management, ensuring that data insights are integrated into broader business strategies. Additionally, this person is responsible for innovating and improving analytical processes and tools, thereby enhancing the agency’s capabilities, and maintaining its competitive advantage in a rapidly evolving digital landscape.

Responsibilities

  • Design and lead analytical projects that drive strategic business decisions.
  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations to senior management based on advanced data analysis.
  • Use advanced analytics to improve campaign effectiveness and ROI.
  • Oversee the management of complex datasets, ensuring accuracy and consistency.
  • Integrate data from various sources to create a comprehensive view for analysis.
  • Mentor junior analysts and help develop their analytical skills.
  • Lead cross-functional teams in data-driven projects and initiatives.
  • Develop advanced dashboards and reports that provide deeper insights into the data.
  • Ensure that data visualizations are clear and effectively communicate complex information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Identify and implement new technologies and methodologies to enhance the analytical capabilities of the agency.
  • Continuously seek process improvements to increase efficiency and accuracy in data analysis.
  • Work closely with other departments to ensure that data strategies align with business objectives.
  • Influence strategic planning and policymaking through expert data consultation.
  • Follow established processes and procedures, including workflow between teams and external clients.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in data science, statistics, engineering, or related field. Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in data analysis, preferably in the advertising industry.
  • Proficiency in statistical analysis and data modeling techniques.
  • Advanced knowledge of analytical tools and programming languages such as SQL, Python, R, and SAS.
  • Experience with data visualization tools such as Domo, Looker Studio, Tableau or Power BI.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex data in a clear and persuasive manner.
  • Strong leadership qualities and the ability to mentor junior team members.
  • A solid understanding of the advertising industry’s dynamics and challenges including knowledge of digital marketing strategies and consumer behavior analysis.
  • Be passionate, optimistic, proactive, constructive, self-motivated, organized, friendly, willing to work on anything and help others.
  • Be able to make valuable contributions to brainstorming sessions and discussions, providing insights and a point of view.
  • Treat others with respect, listening to other perspectives, especially when they’re different from your own.
  • Be flexible and enjoy interacting, presenting, and workshopping with clients and internal teams.
