Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Director to join our childcare center. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing and stimulating environment that implements social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. This role involves overseeing teachers, classroom activities, developing curriculum, and ensuring the well-being of all students, including those with developmental disabilities. The Assistant Director will help the Director with their duties and be a part of the classrooms.
Duties
- Help with scheduling, menu planning, preparing meals, and office work.
- Caring for children ages 6 weeks old to sevens years old.
- Help teachers develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with early childhood education standards.
- Manage classroom activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all children.
- Educate children through a play-based learning environment and hands-on activities that promote exploration and discovery.
- Provide individualized support to children, particularly those with developmental disabilities.
- Utilize effective behavior management techniques to promote positive behavior among students.
- Collaborate with parents and caregivers to discuss their child's progress and address any concerns.
- Maintain accurate records of the children's progress, attendance, and behavioral incidents.
- Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.
Qualifications:
- A degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred.
- Experience working with children in any type of educational setting is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of special education practices is a plus.
- Familiarity with behavior management strategies and techniques for working with young children.
- First aid certification, will need to be completed within 3 months of hiring
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues.
- Abusive Head Trauma training
- Mandated reporter within one week of hiring
- Must pass a background check
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
