Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Assistant Director to join our childcare center. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing and stimulating environment that implements social, emotional, physical and cognitive development. This role involves overseeing teachers, classroom activities, developing curriculum, and ensuring the well-being of all students, including those with developmental disabilities. The Assistant Director will help the Director with their duties and be a part of the classrooms.

Duties

  • Help with scheduling, menu planning, preparing meals, and office work.
  • Caring for children ages 6 weeks old to sevens years old.
  • Help teachers develop and implement engaging lesson plans that align with early childhood education standards.
  • Manage classroom activities, ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all children.
  • Educate children through a play-based learning environment and hands-on activities that promote exploration and discovery.
  • Provide individualized support to children, particularly those with developmental disabilities.
  • Utilize effective behavior management techniques to promote positive behavior among students.
  • Collaborate with parents and caregivers to discuss their child's progress and address any concerns.
  • Maintain accurate records of the children's progress, attendance, and behavioral incidents.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in early childhood education.

Qualifications:

  • A degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience working with children in any type of educational setting is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of special education practices is a plus.
  • Familiarity with behavior management strategies and techniques for working with young children.
  • First aid certification, will need to be completed within 3 months of hiring
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively interact with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • Abusive Head Trauma training
  • Mandated reporter within one week of hiring
  • Must pass a background check

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
