The Director, Consumer Database & Engagement (Consumer Experience) will manage the leaders responsible for consumer growth and consumer experience and will drive programs that activate participation, maintain engagement, and protect the integrity of the consumer database. This role works cross-functionally with marketing, recruiting, operations, and technology teams to ensure newly acquired panelists quickly convert into active research participants.

Role Overview

Leadership & Team Management

Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the teams responsible for panel growth and consumer engagement.

Key Leadership Responsibilities

  • set strategy and priorities for panel growth and engagement
  • align acquisition programs with study demand
  • develop and support team members
  • ensure collaboration across marketing, recruiting, operations, and technology teams

Key Responsibilities

Consumer Acquisition Strategy

  • oversee consumer panel growth through digital acquisition channels
  • guide paid media strategy and panel growth initiatives
  • optimize cost-per-acquisition and acquisition funnel performance
  • ensure acquisition campaigns align with research study demand

Panel Activation & Study Matching

  • ensure panelists move efficiently from registration to participation
  • optimize study invitation and enrollment processes
  • improve qualification speed and reduce friction in study participation
  • support marketing initiatives that connect acquisition campaigns directly to relevant studies

Consumer Engagement & Experience

  • lead lifecycle engagement strategies to maintain active participation
  • oversee email invitation programs and SMS messaging systems
  • develop re-engagement initiatives for inactive panelists
  • ensure a positive and responsive consumer experience across the panel lifecycle

Database Health & Integrity

  • maintain a clean and reliable consumer database
  • manage duplicate account removal and inactive user programs
  • validate consumer contact information
  • enforce participation and eligibility policies

Fraud Prevention & Identity Verification

  • implement fraud detection and identity verification tools
  • monitor suspicious participation patterns
  • prevent bot networks and device farm participation
  • establish policies that protect research quality and incentive integrity

Consumer Communications Systems

  • serve as business owner for consumer communication platforms
  • oversee email and SMS study invitation programs
  • ensure messaging compliance and governance
  • partner with technology teams to improve delivery speed and system reliability

Success Metrics

Performance In This Role Will Be Measured Through

Panel Activation

  • time from registration to first study participation
  • new panelist participation rate

Engagement

  • screener participation rate
  • email click-through rate
  • SMS response rate

Database Integrity

  • fraud rate
  • duplicate account reduction
  • inactive user management

Operational Performance

  • study fill rate
  • recruitment speed and efficiency

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience in marketing, consumer insights, lifecycle engagement, or panel management
  • experience managing large consumer databases, research panels, or digital communities
  • experience leading acquisition, engagement, or lifecycle marketing teams
  • strong data-driven decision-making and analytical skills
  • experience working cross-functionally with marketing, technology, and operations teams
  • proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams

Qualifications

We offer a starting salary between $120,000-$140,000 plus bonus eligibility based on the qualifications and experience of each individual. Curion offers a benefits package for this position which includes:
