About the Role


Join Curexa Pharmacy, an FDA 503A-compliant pharmacy, to deliver safe, accurate dispensing and high-quality patient care in a fast-paced retail and compounding environment. You'll counsel patients, oversee support personnel, maintain regulatory compliance (USP 795, USP 800, NJ Board of Pharmacy), and drive operational excellence. PIC track available for qualified candidates.

What You'll Do

  • Dispensing & Patient Care
  • Accurately fill and check prescriptions; monitor allergies, interactions, and therapeutic appropriateness.
  • Provide proactive patient counseling on Rx/OTC use, administration, storage, side effects, and returns/complaints policies.
  • Maintain confidentiality and HIPAA compliance.
  • Operations & Compliance
  • Adhere to Curexa SOPs, NJ Board of Pharmacy regulations, federal laws, and accreditation standards (USP 795, USP 800).
  • Manage inventory and controls (including DEA Schedule II), PMP usage, will-call purges, special orders, and reverse distribution of outdated meds.
  • Document and resolve patient complaints; utilize APMS (PQC) for workflow analysis.
  • Support safe opening/closing procedures (alarms, keys, fire protocols).
  • Team Leadership & TraininG
  • Supervise pharmacy support personnel within scope (technicians, interns/externs, coordinators).
  • Provide training, feedback, and re-training to sustain quality and productivity.
  • Collaborate with Operations and Sales to optimize workflow, service, and growth.
  • Compounding (Non-Sterile)
  • Ensure ingredients meet identity/quality/purity; maintain complete compounding records.
  • Validate critical processes; maintain suitable environment; apply beyond-use dating based on stability data.
  • Supervise compounding tasks (ingredient verification, quantities, finished label); delegate allowed tasks appropriately.
  • Advise patients when preparations are compounded; comply with FDA 21 CFR no withdrawn/removed drugs; limits on commercially available products).

Qualifications

  • Education: BS Pharm or PharmD from an ACPE-accredited College of Pharmacy.
  • Licensure: Active New Jersey Pharmacist license in good standing; CE maintained; license displayed per regulations.
  • Exams/Background: NAPLEX & MPJE passed; internship requirements met; criminal background check & fingerprinting; Medicare exclusion list clearance; pre-employment drug screening.
  • Experience: 3–5 years in Retail, Independent, or Clinical pharmacy preferred.
  • Skills:
  • Exceptional accuracy, organization, and stress management.
  • Strong customer service and communication; ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Proficient with pharmacy software and third-party billing.
  • Solid knowledge of medications (indications, contraindications, dosing, side effects).
  • Infection control and quality/safety standards; problem-solving and concise research-backed decision-making.
  • Pharmacy math (ratios, proportions, conversions, percentages; metric system).
  • Language: English required; Spanish a plus.

Physical & Work Conditions

  • Stand/walk for 8–10 hours; lift up to 25 lbs; active use of hands/arms/eyes/voice.
  • Fast-paced, climate-controlled retail setting with moderate noise.
  • Flexible scheduling to cover pharmacist PTO/sick/vacation.
  • PIC roles: Minimum 35 hours/week onsite.

Performance Expectations

  • Accurate dispensing and documentation; compliance with USP 795/800, NJ Board, federal laws, and accreditation standards.
  • High patient satisfaction; timely resolution of complaints with documentation (APMS/PQC).
  • Strong inventory control, controlled substance monitoring, PMP compliance.
  • Effective supervision, communication, and teamwork; positive impact on prescription volume, sales, and profitability.
  • Ongoing education; completion of annual competencies, training, and PRS compliance modules.

REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION

Required: BS or PharmD. graduate degree obtained from an accredited university/college of Pharmacy by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education and a Pharmacist license issued by the domicile state Board of Pharmacy and any other state where required.

EXPERIENCE

Required:

Completed an internship or other program that has been approved by domicile State Board of Pharmacy or demonstrated to the board's satisfaction experience in the practice of pharmacy which meets or exceeds the minimum internship requirements of the board.

Passing the NAPLEX and MJPE testing, proof of character, and criminal history background check for initial licensure as a Pharmacist.

Preferred: 3-5 years Retail, Independent, or Clinical working environment experience.

LICENSES

Required: Actively licensed and registered by domicile State Board of Pharmacy. License should be in good standing and continuing education credits and fees maintained. The current license shall be conspicuously displayed in the pharmacist's principal place of employment and a license card or primary source verification carried on the pharmacist's person if working in a secondary location.

Passing of the criminal history background check and fingerprinting as per state registration requirements. Background check for Medicare and satisfactory results after a Medicare exclusion list is required before hire and must be maintained throughout employment with the pharmacy.
