Role Description The Senior Director of Development is a full-time, on-site role based in Chicago, IL, responsible for leading and executing CURE Epilepsy’s comprehensive fundraising strategy. This role oversees major giving programs, including planned and annual giving, and cultivates relationships with individual donors, foundations, and corporate partners. The Senior Director of Development manages the development team, sets fundraising goals, and directs budgeting and forecasting for development activities. Daily responsibilities include designing and implementing philanthropic campaigns, preparing proposals and impact reports, coordinating donor stewardship activities, and collaborating with senior leadership to align fundraising priorities with organizational objectives. The role also involves representing CURE Epilepsy at events, developing partnerships that advance the mission, and ensuring compliant, data-driven development practices.


Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in fundraising strategy, including philanthropy and major donor engagement.
  • Proven experience managing planned giving and annual giving programs.
  • Strong budgeting, financial oversight, and goal-setting skills within a nonprofit or mission-driven environment.
  • Track record of leading and mentoring development teams to achieve ambitious fundraising targets.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and presentation skills with diverse stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree or CFRE certification is a plus.
  • Experience working with CRM and donor management systems, and using data to guide strategy.
  • Background in health, science, or research-focused nonprofits preferred; commitment to CURE Epilepsy’s mission is essential.
