Responsibilities- Prepare and cook meals according to menus, recipes, and resident dietary needs.
- Follow therapeutic diets, food allergies, and special dietary requirements.
- Ensure meals are prepared and served at the appropriate temperature and on time.
- Follow proper food safety, sanitation, and infection-control procedures.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen and food preparation area.
- Properly store, label, and rotate food and supplies.
- Assist with meal service, food preparation, and kitchen cleanup as needed.
- Communicate dietary concerns or resident meal preferences to appropriate staff.
- Follow facility policies and state and federal food-service regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Previous cooking or food service experience preferred.
- Healthcare, long-term care, or senior living experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and proper food-handling practices.
- Ability to follow menus, recipes, portion sizes, and therapeutic diet requirements.
- Strong communication, organization, and teamwork skills.
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to work scheduled shifts, including weekends and holidays as needed.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and safely lift and carry kitchen supplies and equipment.
