We are looking for a talented US-Canada Powertrain C&C Specialist to join our team. In this product-focused role, you will serve as a key technical leader responsible for driving product integration, system performance, and engineering decision-making across the product lifecycle. Working closely with product engineers, manufacturing teams, suppliers, purchasing, and customer-facing stakeholders, you will help deliver reliable, high-quality solutions while navigating complex technical challenges and competing priorities.

The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in systems engineering, product verification and validation, requirements management, interface integration, and root cause problem solving. You will leverage tools and methodologies such as iDFMEA, ESW processes, 7-Step Problem Solving, design reviews, system modeling, simulation, and failure mode avoidance to guide technical decisions and improve product outcomes. Success in this role requires strong systems thinking, sound decision-making, collaboration across functions, and the ability to lead complex projects with accountability and technical influence.

In this role, you will make an impact in the following ways:

  • Lead cross-functional engineering efforts to deliver integrated product solutions that meet performance, quality, and business objectives.
  • Drive technical decision-making by evaluating data, stakeholder input, and product requirements throughout the development lifecycle.
  • Improve product reliability by identifying potential failure modes and implementing proactive risk mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate system integration activities across engineering disciplines, suppliers, manufacturing teams, and customer stakeholders.
  • Develop and execute validation strategies that verify product capability and ensure requirements are achieved.
  • Solve complex product issues through structured root cause analysis and data-driven corrective actions.
  • Enhance engineering processes, tools, and best practices to increase efficiency and support quality outcomes.
  • Mentor and guide engineers, technicians, and project teams while fostering technical excellence and collaboration.

Education, Licenses, Certifications:

  • College, university, or equivalent Bachelor's degree in Engineering or appropriate STEM field is required.
  • Post-graduate (Master's) degree relevant to this discipline area may be required for select roles.
  • This position may require licensing for compliance with export controls or sanctions regulations.

Experience:

  • Prior Senior or Lead Engineer equivalent work experience in a relevant discipline area is required with a demonstrated track record of technical problem solving and quality decision making.
  • Knowledge of MS Office tools is preferred.

Additional Responsibilities: 

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to certification and compliance strategies with regulatory agencies and industry organizations (e.g., EPA, CARB, NHTSA, ECCC, EMA) for Hybrid and Non-Hybrid Powertrain applications in the U.S. and Canadian markets.
  • Support emissions certification and compliance activities by serving as the platform/program emissions point of contact for new product development and current products, including internal and agency interactions, reviews, and submissions.
  • Interpret complex emissions regulations and collaborate with engineering teams to develop compliant strategies for current and future Powertrain architectures, including feasibility studies for new architectures (e.g., R&T).

 

Skills and Experience Requirements or Preferences

  • Ability to interpret complex (regulatory) requirements and translate them into actionable strategies for engineering teams.
  • Ability to build subject matter expertise in GHG/Fuel Economy certification requirements, including vehicle-based emissions test cycles, fuel map test procedures, compliance margin assessments, and off-cycle technologies.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams, such as system performance integration (SPI), combustion performance emissions (CPE), product compliance and regulatory affairs (PCRA), customer engineering, application engineering, program management, powertrain integration, test technologies, emissions testing, and/or data analysis.
  • Experience with hybrid or non-hybrid powertrain platforms preferred but not required
  • Experience interacting with regulatory agencies and/or industry organizations.

  • Proven success leading projects or owning critical product systems while managing ambiguity, risk, and competing priorities.
  • Ability to influence stakeholders, build strong cross-functional partnerships, and communicate effectively across technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience applying validation, simulation, failure analysis, and quality improvement processes to drive product performance and reliability.
