Based in Fayetteville, NC 28301, you’ll be the go-to expert ensuring every locomotive that rolls into the shop leaves operating safely and efficiently. Your day starts by reviewing work orders, planning diagnostics, and prioritizing maintenance tasks. From there, you’ll move between inspections, troubleshooting, and repairs—collaborating with fellow technicians and engineers to keep operations on track.
Core Responsibilities
- Inspect, test, and repair electrical systems and components installed on locomotives.
- Diagnose electrical malfunctions and implement effective, lasting solutions.
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance checks on locomotive electrical systems.
- Partner closely with technicians and engineers to optimize locomotive performance.
- Document all maintenance activities and repairs with accuracy and detail.
- Stay current with applicable industry standards and safety regulations.
- Use diagnostic tools and test equipment to pinpoint and resolve issues quickly.
Tools & Collaboration
You’ll regularly apply schematic interpretation, digital multimeters, and specialized diagnostic equipment. Strong, clear communication keeps the team aligned and minimizes downtime.
What You’ll Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent; a technical degree in electrical engineering or related field is preferred.
- Hands-on experience as an electrician; railway background strongly preferred.
