Cummings Electrical is hiring a Safety Coordinator to be responsible for coordinating construction activities related to electrical, instrumentation and controls on an assigned project. General duties include monitoring, documenting, and training construction personnel as it relates to safety and quality of work performed and to support Project Teams in developing and sustaining an Incident and Injury Free Culture (IIFC).

Responsibilities

  • Support Superintendents in development of Activity Hazard Analyses, PROP Plans, MOP’s, Lift Plans and all other project safety related documentation.
  • Communicate with Project Manager or Superintendent regarding concerns about the construction progress.
  • Perform site inspections for quality control and document using predictive Solutions.
  • Coordinate permitting and make ready process.
  • Conducts Job Hazard Analysis and Incident Investigations.
  • Advises personnel regarding safety protocols and procedures to ensure zero injuries and regulatory compliance.
  • Conducts routine and follow-up safety and hazard inspections of company work sites.
  • Responds to emergency situations and participates in incident investigations.
  • Monitors the implementation of all safety related corrective actions and program enhancements.
  • Evaluate effectiveness of safety programs through daily field Regulatory compliance and audit oversight.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring for employees exhibiting unsafe behaviors and provide recognition for employees exhibiting safe.
  • Provide regular feedback and makes recommendations to Project Team on safety areas for improvement, correcting unsafe conditions and recognition, and provides necessary safety training.
  • Coordinate construction efforts to ensure continuity with other contractors and avoid any disruption.
  • Perform new hire training, pre-project orientations and all other safety related training.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

  • Job requires working in all elements, depending on job location, time of year, heat, cold, rain, and snow.
  • Must be able to utilize construction site sanitary facilities (Porta-Potty’s).
  • Job requires employee to have required personal tools with them at all time (waist tool belt as worn weighs approximately 30 lbs.).
  • Work from all type ladders (step ladders up to 14', "A" frame ladders, and all size extension ladders and carry and relocate up to 12' step ladders by one's self .
  • Employee's personal weight and personal tools cannot exceed weight limit of ladder (Class 1 - 250 lbs., Class 1A - 300 lbs
  • Perform work at various heights, up to 90' from ladders, scaffolds, aerial lifts, cat walks or other safe work areas.
  • Work in restricted areas (switchgear room, manholes, utility tunnels, crawl spaces, and attics).
  • Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat and safety glasses at all times ) and respirator when required.
  • Able to work 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, overtime as required, and night shifts.

PHYSICAL FUNCTION:

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull, and reach overhead.
  • Lift 51 pounds, 20 times per day.
  • Repetitive use of arms, hands, and fingers
  • Constantly moving on your feet.
  • Climb ladders (all types).
  • Completing overhead work for full day assignments.
  • Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and to gain access to all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction, but acceptable for use.
  • Possess good vision (normal or corrected).
  • Possess good hearing (normal or corrected).
  • Ability to read and comprehend written instructions including jobsite directions, maps, and instructional manuals.
  • Ability to follow verbal instructions.

Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • 3 years verifiable, full-time construction safety experience

Preferred Skills & Qualifications

  • OSHA 30 Hour
  • First Aid/CPR Certification
  • CSHO- Certified Safety & Health Official
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong computer skills and adept at learning new software
