COMMUNICATIONS COORDINATOR


The Communications Coordinator reports directly to the Development and Communications

Director. This is an excellent entry level opportunity for a media and tech savvy individual seeking

to make a positive impact on the environment.


Responsibilities


Programmatic Marketing and Communications 55%


  • Responsible for storytelling related to organizational programming including education & engagement, stream restoration, working lands, and urban waters initiatives. Storytelling will include, but not be limited to, social media content creation, blog posts, press releases and advisories, website content, and email newsletters.
  • Execute the organization’s external communications including monthly email newsletters, social media, press releases, and advertisements.
  • Execute individual programs’ communications plans, including the review of program newsletters, blog posts, monthly check-ins, and promotional campaigns.
  • Execute end-to-end photo and video documentation of Cumberland River Compact projects.
  • Manage and maintain the Compact’s digital library of photo and video assets.
  • Execute graphic design requests from staff in accordance with the Compact’s brand standards. Maintain the Compact’s library of Canva brand templates and review templated projects created by program staff.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with print vendors to assist program staff with ordering promotional and outreach materials.
  • Manage general communications requests and questions from staff and external sources.
  • Work with the Development and Communications Director to prioritize program marketing.
  • Track analytics for digital program communications including social media, webpages, and marketing emails to help program staff meet engagement deliverables.
  • Staff special projects and tabling events as requested.


Organizational Marketing and Communications 30%

  • Assist the Development and Communications Director in organizational branding, communication, and marketing efforts. Tasks may include media outreach, social media content creation and delivery, and other marketing initiatives.
  • Develop new channels for telling the story of the Cumberland River Compact’s work to improve water quality and water recreation
  • Monitor and analyze the organization’s communications output, including website, media coverage, email marketing, socials, and other data. Provide monthly reports to the Development and Communications Director and Marketing Committee.
  • Work with the Development and Communications Director to implement ongoing improvements to the Compact’s websites and prioritize SEO. This may include cumberlandrivercompact.orgrootnashville.orgdragonboatnashville.com, and cumberlandriverbasin.org.
  • Maintain the Compact’s Shopify store and design new merchandise as requested.
  • Attention to special projects as requested by the Development Director or Executive Director
  • Build partnerships with individuals, organizations and businesses to strengthen the Cumberland River Compact’s reach, impact and brand.


Fundraising 10%

  • Assist the Development and Communications Director as needed with campaigns including the annual appeal, Giving Tuesday, and Earth Day.
  • Assist the Development and Communications Director as needed with marketing and execution of organizational events including Hellbender on the River and more.
  • Assist with tasks as needed that may include database management, photography, blogging and social media content creation.
  • Develop and distribute the Compact’s Annual Report and Year in Review Blog with the Development & Communications Director’s guidance.


Admin 5%

  • Maintain the Compact’s tech library and assist program staff as needed with checking out tech materials for photography, presentations, and educational events.
  • Order branded apparel for office and Field Team staff, ensuring design quality and working with the Volunteer Coordinator to maintain desired inventory.
  • Update and maintain comms SOPs for program staff requesting graphics, print products, branded merchandise, copy reviews, tech checkout, and more.
  • Manage internal and external office staff roster information including cell phones, birthdays, start dates, headshots, website bios, and email signatures.


Qualifications

  • Excellent writing and editing abilities.
  • Experience managing multiple social media accounts.
  • Strong photography skills.
  • Ability to utilize organization’s brand standards in marketing and communications projects.
  • Excellence in Google Workspace, Canva, and social media platforms. Adobe Creative Suite is a plus.
  • Quick learner on software platforms including Wordpress, Emma, and Bloomerang.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Must be a team player and also be able to work independently.
  • Well-organized, detail-oriented, and resourceful, with the ability to meet deadlines and manage multiple tasks, assignments, and priorities.
  • Interest in the environment is a plus.


Benefits


This is a full-time, three-month interim position with the potential to become a permanent role, depending on organizational needs and staffing decisions.

  • Coordinator positions at Cumberland River Compact start at $45,000.
