The Clinic Operations Manager/Charge Nurse works cooperatively with all administrative staff including Health Director, Deputy Director, Nursing Director, Medical Director, and Public Health Nursing (PHN) Supervisor II and other supervisory staff to provide the most effective public health services to the community. Employee works specifically to manage the Sexually Transmitted Infections (STI) Clinic.
- Plan program initiatives for each contract addenda.
- Ensure the Community Disease Control Specialists (CDCS) receives positive lab results in order for patient to receive proper treatment, education, follow and contact list development required by CDC and state CD branch.
- Provide and execute an orientation plan for new staff and students.
- Gather, analyze and review STI data forwarded in reports to upper management and the state CD Branch.
- May conduct some investigations of diseases of those individuals with diagnosed or suspected infections or exposures to include contacts.
- Manage large projects using a variety of resources and spends time assessing, planning, coordinating and evaluating services throughout the county.
- Writes policies and procedures for STI programs.
- May function as an ERRN, STI clinician as needed, if certified.
- May function as Treatment Nurse as needed.
Graduation from a four-year college or university with a B.S. in Nursing which includes a Public Health Nursing rotation and two years of Public Health nursing experience; or a Master’s in Public Health and graduation from a school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience; or graduation from a school of professional nursing and three years of professional nursing experience including two years of Public Health nursing experience; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Individuals employed in a local Health Department without a B.S. Degree which includes a Public Health Nursing rotation or a Master’s in Public Health, will be required to complete an introductory course in principles and practices of public health nursing sponsored by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services- Division of Public Health within one year of employment as a condition of continued employment in accordance with Health Services Commission Rule, 10 NCAC 46.0301.
Necessary Special Qualifications- A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
