7:00 a.m. - 5:30 p.m. Monday-Thursday
8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. on Fridays
9:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Saturdays
Join our pharmacy team as a Pharmacy Technician, where you will play a key role in supporting Pharmacists with daily operations. This position is responsible for receiving and processing prescription requests from healthcare providers for our employees and retirees. Working under the technical and administrative supervision of Pharmacists, the Pharmacy Technician collaborates closely with a dedicated team to ensure efficient and accurate service. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care while gaining valuable hands-on experience in a pharmacy setting.
- Screen and answer telephone calls
- Respond to questions or requests
- Receive written prescriptions or refill requests, verify that information is complete/accurate and enter into computer system
- Assist pharmacist with filling and labeling prescriptions
- Price and file filled prescriptions
- Clean and help maintain equipment, glassware and work areas according to prescribed methods
- Establish and maintain patient profiles
- Order, label and count stock of medications and supplies, and enter inventory into computer
- Receive and store incoming supplies, verify quantities against invoices, determine stock needs, and address shortages
- Monitor the inventory for outdates and overstock
- Send unsaleable inventory to authorized company for destruction in a timely way
Graduation from high school or GED, completion of a recognized Pharmacy Technician training program, and one (1) year of experience in a community pharmacy setting; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Management Preference:
Two to three years of recent experience working as a pharmacy technician and completion of an American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) accredited pharmacy technician certificate program preferred.
Special Requirements:
Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the North Carolina Board of Pharmacy AND
Either of the following:
Current national certification with the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB)
OR
National Healthcare Association (NHA)
Necessary additional requirements: Successful completion of Data Entry, Basic Math, Customer Service and Spelling tests will be required. Candidates selected as qualified will be contacted via email by a Human Resource representative for testing.

- Knowledge of pharmaceuticals, including brand and generic medication names, strengths and dosage forms
- Knowledge of procedures used to compound and reconstitute drugs, master formulations, compounding records, and beyond use dates
- Knowledge of drug stabilities, including reconstitutables, injectables and compounded medications
- Knowledge of proper storage of medications
- Knowledge of federal requirements for hazardous drug and waste handling, procedures for non-sterile compounding and controlled substances handling
- Knowledge of HIPPA, privacy laws, medical and pharmacy terminology
- Knowledge of track and trace systems, including lot numbers, expiration dates, and reporting
- Knowledge of pharmacy inventory systems, including e-prescriptions, SMS and alerts, expiry management, reorder management, and reporting
- Ability to prepare prescriptions for verification with limited supervision
- Ability to follow oral and written instructions and to communicate effectively in oral and written forms
- Ability to perform common pharmacy calculations
