Provides friendly, knowledgeable, and effective assistance to library customers in person, by telephone, and through digital communication channels
Staffs assigned public service points and assists customers with questions, requests, and general library services
Helps customers locate information and materials and navigate library resources, services, and databases
Assists customers with library technology, including desktop computers, laptops, printers, scanners, fax machines, e-readers, and software applications
Provides instruction and guidance to customers on digital literacy, library resources, research tools, and technology
Performs basic troubleshooting of library equipment and assists customers in resolving common technology issues
Assists with planning, promoting, and implementing programs and events for adults, including workshops, lectures, book clubs, and other activities
Participates in collection maintenance activities, including evaluating, weeding, and discarding materials under general supervision
Assists with collecting, compiling, maintaining, and reporting library statistics and other program or service information
Collaborates with library staff to support daily operations and deliver quality programs, services, and resources that meet the needs of the community
Knowledge of library procedures, collection management practices, library systems, and services
Knowledge of readers’ advisory methods, resources, and information sources
Knowledge of library card registration requirements and customer service procedures
Knowledge and ability to provide library information services and effectively assist customers with their information needs
Skill in communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, with co-workers and the general public
Skill in using computers, accurately operating keyboards, navigating the Internet, and utilizing online public access catalogs (OPACs) and specialized library databases
Ability to instruct customers in the use of library equipment and technology, including photocopiers, fax machines, payment equipment, public computer reservation software, and self-checkout systems
Ability to operate audiovisual equipment and effectively search online catalogs and library databases to locate information
Ability to perform basic troubleshooting of computers, printers, copiers, fax machines, and other library equipment
Ability to organize work, coordinate activities, and interact tactfully and courteously with customers, co-workers, and the general public
