Job description:
OVERALL OBJECTIVE OF JOB:
This position functions as a key member of the management team and provides direct supervision to Caseworkers.
Essential Job Functions:
- Responsible for assuring caseworkers are meeting all regulatory requirements regarding assessment of safety and risk.
- Responsible for assuring caseworkers are engaging families in the development of service plans within the required timeframes.
- Supervises and supports caseworkers to include one on one training
- Assigns and monitors work within the service area/unit
- Responsible for support to caseworkers regarding the effects of vicarious trauma.
- Participates in all court hearings with casework staff.
- Participates on the Administrative/Management Team.
- Attends weekly staffing review to assure quality service provision to children and families.
- Conducts performance reviews of casework staff.
- Handles any personnel issues within service area/unit.
- Responsible for any programmatic changes which are necessary in the designated service area/program area.
- Develops and implements new policies and procedures as assigned to assure the Agency remains in compliance with DPW regulations.
- Maintains data regarding program area.
- Works with new caseworkers and/or interns to complete transfer of learning assignments while completing Foundations training series.
- Attends treatment team meetings and home visits with caseworkers as needed.
- Responsible for scheduling and developing an agenda for service area meetings, held monthly (minimum).
- Serves as Emergency Duty Back-up Supervisor in rotation with other agency supervisors/administrators.
- Required to obtain and maintain certifications as Direct service Worker and Supervisor as delineated by statute.
- Completion of Supervisory Training Series (60 hours)
- Provides training to public and private agencies regarding children and youth issues.
- Performs other job-related work as required.
- May perform substance abuse testing of clients if substance use/abuse is suspected.
- County supervisory training as required.
- Group supervision once per month.
- Individual supervision as needed.
- Intake Human Service Manager meets individually with staff minimally every 10 days.
- Ongoing Human Service Manager meets individually with staff minimally every 14 days.
MET’s:
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE & TRAINING:
Two years of professional experience in public or private social work and a bachelor’s degree with major course work in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences; or any equivalent combination of experience and education which includes 12 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, gerontology, criminal justice, or other related social sciences.

- Meritorious service: defined as the absence of any discipline above the level of written reprimand during the 12 months preceding the closing date of the posting
