TITLE: Plant Operations Payroll Clerk
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS: High School graduate and one year of training beyond high school or 750 SAT score or meets established score on high school proficiency test developed by Cumberland County Schools or three years of experience in this job category and minimum typing skill of 35 wpm.

REPORTS TO: Assigned Supervisor/Director/Executive Director
JOB GOAL: To provide secretarial/clerical duties as assigned
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Receives telephone calls and visitors; refers calls or visitors to appropriate staff members.
Prepares monthly employee newsletters for all of Plant Operations.
Serves as backup for dispatch.
Prepares correspondence, reviews and edits correspondence prepared by staff members from superior, checks for correct grammar, proper format, and necessary attachments.
Provides information to the public on other employees which requires knowledge of office rules and regulations.
Receives standardized reports, and compiles data into summary or consolidated form.
Creates and maintains personnel records, such as payrolls and time cards for all Maintenance and General Services personnel.
Assists Maintenance and General Services employees with annual benefit enrollments.
Collects a variety of data from existing office records and compiles into required form for use of supervisor or related working units.
Reviews incoming mail; refers important correspondence to superior assigned correspondence.
Establishes and maintains files for records and correspondence in addition to sorting and distributing incoming mail.
Prepares agenda for office and departmental meetings; handles mechanics of planning meetings, takes minutes and follows through on matters requiring correspondence.
Inspects reports and forms for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with established requirements.
Attends and successfully completes all training activities as required to improve ability and knowledge in performance of work duties.
Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing fairness.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must have finger dexterity and be able to physically perform the basic life operational functions of kneeling, sitting, walking, stooping, reaching, lifting, pushing, pulling, talking, seeing, hearing, and repetitive motion.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies required.
Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
