TITLE: Child Nutrition Kitchen Maintenance Technician
FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS:
Completion of high school or equivalent combination of formal training and experience. A minimum of five years of work related training or formal training in commercial kitchen equipment repair. CFC certification (Type II or Universal). Ability to read accurately complex schematics and diagrams.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Diagnoses malfunctioning commercial kitchen equipment of all types.
Repairs quantity cooking, preparation, holding equipment and dishwashers for 85 schools in a manger to ensure equipment is safe to operate.
Installs system component parts (e.g. refrigeration systems, plumbing, electrical and gas kitchen equipment, kitchen appliances, etc.) for the purpose of providing a safe and workable environment.
Performs a variety of preventive maintenance activities on kitchen equipment, including checking equipment components__switches, cords, doors, pilot lights, closures, thermostats, etc. in a manner to ensure equipment is safe to operate.
Purchases repair parts and maintains inventory for use as needed.
Assists in installing commercial kitchen related equipment.
Removes surplus equipment and transfers equipment school to school.
Responds to emergency situations during and after hours for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concerns.
Attends scheduled workshops and seminars to increase job efficiency and skills.
Adheres to all federal, state, and local safety regulations.
Demonstrates ability to work effectively with others.
Attends and successfully completes all training activities as required to improve ability and knowledge in performance of work duties.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
Must have finger dexterity and be able to perform basic life operational functioning of lifting, climbing, reaching, standing, talking, hearing, and repetitive motion.
Must have small motor development to accommodate working with small parts.
Must have auditory acuity at a level to communicate effectively with customers and employees in direct conversation as well as by telephone.
Must have visual acuity to read and analyze information in hard copy or on computer screens.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies required.
Must have a valid North Carolina driver’s license.
