TITLE: Electrician II / Assistant Foreman

FLSA STATUS: Non-Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS:

Completion of high school or equivalent and seven years of experience in the electrical trade, or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Technical school training preferred. Basic or school electrician’s license required. Must have experience/training in high and low voltage controls and fire alarm essentials.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Receives limited supervision.

Assists in the supervision of the electrical department employees.

Performs as mentor to electricians to aid in professional growth.

Installs, maintains, alters, and repairs wiring, power appliances, light and electrical circuits.

Installs, maintains and repairs electric motors, generators and related mechanical equipment.

Adjusts and cleans electrical switches and control devices.

Makes estimates of time and materials needed.

Possesses considerable knowledge of the principles and practices of safe and efficient use of tools and equipment.

Possesses knowledge of rules, regulations and electrical codes.

Possesses knowledge of safety hazards, rules, regulations and implements safety programs/precautions.

Possesses skill in diagnosis and repair of electrical devices and systems.

Possesses ability to coordinate with other trades.

Acts as electrician foreman in his absence.

Attends and successfully completes all training activities as required to improve ability and knowledge in performance of work duties.

Serves as team player and role model for other employees in the organization; demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement; supports and exhibits organizational core values of caring, respect, integrity, responsibility, high expectations, being customer driven, and valuing fairness.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

The employee must be able to demonstrate the following physical demands to safely and productively perform the essential functions of the Electrician position.

The job requires constant material/tool handling, standing/walking on even and uneven grade and work from below grade to overhead; frequent pulling up to 125 lb/force; and occasional pushing.

Must be able to lift/carry 25 lbs constantly, 50 lbs frequently and 120 lbs occasionally.

Must be able to pull up to 120 lbs/force frequently.

Must be able to work in confined spaces requiring entry 24” x 24” crawl spaces occasionally.

Must be able to tolerate the above job demands on a regular schedule and as assigned.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Background check with local and state law enforcement agencies required.

Must possess a valid North Carolina driver’s license. Possess ability to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License if required.
