Position Overview
Under general supervision, the purpose of the position is to fingerprint job applicants and collect all biographical information for the completion of processing individuals for concealed handgun permits and gun permits. Employees in this classification perform a variety of support duties requiring use of Pistol, AOC and DCI.

- Greets customers at counter and determines needs. 1%
- Receives pistol permit applications. 20%
- Enter applications to Records Management System PISTOL.
- Research applicants name in the Administrative Office of the Courts (AOC) for Statewide criminal history check.
- Receive payment for pistol permits.
- Print, and issue approved pistol permits, verifying accuracy.
- Receive concealed carry permit applications. 20%
- Enter Concealed Handgun Permit information into PISTOL system.
- Assemble file with all required documents.
- Accept payment for Concealed Handgun Permit.
- Perform county wide criminal history checks for job applications and housing applicants 3%
- Process payment for criminal history checks. 1%
- Perform fingerprint procedures for job applicants and concealed handgun Applications. 35%
- Print out incident reports for the public. 1%
- Assemble concealed handgun permit packets, both new and renewal. 10%
- Perform statewide criminal history checks for Armed Forces recruiters. 1%
- Answer incoming calls, supplying information and directing calls. 2%
- Submit all fingerprints to State Bureau of Investigation at the end of each day. 1%
- Clean fingerprint machine. 1%
- Maintain complete brochure rack in front office. 1%
- Review pistol permit application file and remove all files older than 30 days. 2%
- Enter those into RMS PISTOL as “Denied over 30 days” 1%
Minimum Qualifications
Required Minimum Training:
High school diploma or GED; supplemented by vocational/technical training in fingerprinting and photography; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.Additional requirements that must be submitted within 3 days of receiving an email requesting these documents.

- Military DD-214 Member-4 (if applicable)
- Authorization of Release of Personal Information to Cumberland County Sheriff's Office
- The Authorization for Release form must be notarized. We are able to notarize your application free of charge and provide photocopies of your documents
