Cumberland County Guidance Center is seeking a Part-Time/PRN Residential Counselor to provide support, advocacy, and skill-building services to individuals residing in our supervised residential program.

What You'll Do
As a Residential Counselor, you'll provide direct support services to adults receiving behavioral health treatment in a supervised residential setting.
You'll help residents develop the daily living, communication, and community integration skills needed to achieve recovery goals and maintain stability within the community.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide counseling, support, advocacy, and encouragement to residents
- Assist individuals in developing independent living and daily life skills
- Document client progress, treatment activities, and daily observations
- Facilitate recreational, educational, wellness, and social activities
- Connect residents to community resources and support services
- Provide transportation to appointments, activities, and community services as needed
- Promote a safe, structured, and recovery-oriented residential environment
- Collaborate with treatment team members to support client success
- Assist with crisis intervention and behavioral support when needed
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Four (4) years of related work experience, volunteer experience, caregiving experience, human services experience, or relevant life experience
- Knowledge of community resources and support agencies
- Valid New Jersey driver's license with a driving record that meets agency standards
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in behavioral health, mental health, human services, residential treatment, group homes, or psychiatric rehabilitation settings
- Experience as a Residential Counselor, Behavioral Health Technician (BHT), Mental Health Technician, Direct Support Professional (DSP), or Case Aide
- Experience supporting individuals living with mental illness or co-occurring disorders
- Knowledge of recovery-oriented and trauma-informed care practices
- Bilingual English/Spanish
