POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction and supervision of the Executive Director of Youth Development and in accordance with the mission and purpose of the YMCA, the Senior Director of School Age Learning is responsible for the strategic development, leadership, supervision, and administrative oversight of all before and after early childhood programs, school-age care, as well as any teen initiatives.
This position ensures the delivery of high-quality programs that support youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Senior Director of School Age Learning is accountable for program quality, safety, ensuring risk management compliance, staff development, community engagement, and achieving strategic growth in youth services across the association. Strong leadership, organizational, communication, budgeting, staffing, training, and coaching skills are required. The ability to multitask effectively and communicate professionally is essential.
Qualifications:ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Oversee all youth development programs including Before and After School, Teen Initiatives, and Child Watch
- Expand programs by increasing enrollment and promoting YMCA services within the community in alignment with strategic and operating plans
- Conduct, analyze, and report program evaluations to ensure adherence to standards (NAEYC, Grow NJ Kids, ACA, and other applicable accrediting bodies)
- Hire, supervise, train, evaluate, and coach program staff
- Develop, monitor, and manage program budgets
- Lead grant writing efforts and pursue funding opportunities to expand youth development programs
- Implement marketing and promotional strategies to increase participation
- Ensure compliance with licensing agencies, state regulations, and YMCA policies
- Report program progress, outcomes, and challenges to executive leadership
- Perform all other duties as assigned in support of the YMCA mission
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in education, youth development, recreation, human services, or related field required
- Minimum of five (5) years of progressive leadership and supervisory experience
- Experience in youth programming, child care and/or community-based services preferred
- CPR, AED, Oxygen, and First Aid certifications required within the first 60 days of employment
WORK ENVIROMENT & PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to travel between multiple program sites
- Frequent standing, walking, and occasional lifting (up to 50 lbs)
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed
- Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments depending on program needs
Salary : $70,000 - $75,000
