The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the day to day operation of the volunteer program. The goal is to recruit, train and support volunteers for victim advocacy of survivors of domestic and sexual violence.

Essential Functions:

  • Give overall direction to the planning, implementation, administration and evaluation of the volunteer program.
  • Recruit, screen and select volunteers.
  • Design and conduct volunteer training programs and update or create curriculum as needed.
  • Develop strategies to retain volunteers and re-direct or terminate ineffective volunteers.
  • Provide on-going supervision, support, feedback and non-monetary rewards for volunteers.
  • Plan support groups and/or appreciation events for volunteers.
  • Schedule volunteers as required.
  • Design and maintain filing system for volunteer program.
  • Maintain volunteer log sheets for grants.
  • Ensure required documentation, reports and administrative paperwork are thoroughly completed and timely.
  • Act as liaison between staff and volunteers.
  • Assist in development of brand with social media, web page, info graphics and event marketing.
  • Attend health fairs, workshops and public events to promote agency services.
  • Participate in trainings, workshops and information sessions.
  • Plan and implement awareness events, including DVAM and SAAM.
  • Participate in agency staff meetings and other activities as assigned.
  • Enhance professional growth and development through activities such as professional affiliations, conferences, workshops, etc.
  • Participate in the on-call schedule as staff backup for volunteers and on call as needed.
  • Provide office coverage during times of staff shortage.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
A very high degree of knowledge of resources relevant to victims of crime, and the ability to clearly communicate these to others; ability to work in complex situations and manage multiple tasks and crisis situations; good supervision skills and the ability to maintain and promote positive working relationships within Cumbee Center; excellent assessment; good understanding of domestic and sexual violence and its effects of clients and their families and its effects of clients and their families; ability to support volunteers in difficult situations; effective use of time and resources to help maintain quality services.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $39,000.00 per year
