Position Description: Culver-Stockton College invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Biology. This is a full-time, tenure-track position beginning in August 2026. Ability to teach a broad range of courses, including Anatomy and Physiology, Medical Terminology, Pathophysiology, and Microbiology is preferred. Culver-Stockton College is a full member participant in the Howard Hughes Medical Institute's (HHMI) Science Education Alliance National Genomics Research Initiative. The successful candidate may participate in teaching an innovative, research-based three-semester course for first-year students as part of this HHMI partnership. This is a traditional face-to-face position in a dynamic, experientially based program with some online teaching as needed.
Responsibilities:
- Responsible for teaching undergraduate classes in the major as needed.
- Responsible for developing course work and lab materials as needed.
- Participation in undergraduate research is encouraged through advising and/or formal teaching duties associated with senior capstone courses.
- Participate in departmental, college-wide, and community service activities.
- Advise and mentor students on academic and career development.
- Assist with recruitment efforts for students.
- Engage in scholarly activities or professional practice.
- Contribute to the ongoing growth of the Department of Biology through curriculum development, assessment activities, and accreditation efforts.
- Must have the ability to work effectively with students and colleagues and have a strong commitment to undergraduate liberal arts education.
Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in biological sciences or closely related field by date of appointment required.
- ABD candidates will be considered.
- Experience in teaching biology and/or related field courses at the undergraduate level.
- Ability to work effectively with students and colleagues from a variety of backgrounds.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Understand and demonstrate a general proficiency with online course management systems
