Sanitation Operator

Company Overview:

Culture Fresh Foods, Inc is a Dairy and Non-Dairy processing facility headquartered in Naugatuck, CT. The facility produces a wide range of dairy and plant-based spoonable and spreadable cultured and ESL (extended shelf life) products for private label, co-pack and under its own brand.

Position Summary:

The Sanitation Operator is responsible for executing and maintaining the facility’s sanitation program to ensure clean, safe, hygienic production environment. This role directly supports food safety and quality by thoroughly cleaning equipment and production areas, adhereing to established cleaning procedures and regulatory requirements. The position is managed and directly reports to the Sanitation Manager of the Company.

Schedule:

Monday through Thursday, 7PM - 4AM, Sundays 8AM - 3PM

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Clean and sanitize production areas, machinery, and equipment in compliance with plant sanitation standards and SSOPs.
• Accurately complete all required sanitation documentation and logs.
• Use cleaning tools, floor scrubbers, foamers, and relation sanitation equipment effectively and safely.
• Handle cleaning chemicals properly, ensuring correct concentrations and safe usage.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of sanitation supply storage areas.
• Collaborate with CIP operators to clean and organize production equipment and parts.
• Perform daily floor-to-ceiling cleaning tasks, including walls, drains, barriers, conveyors, and overhead structures.
• Execute shift closures to ensure processing areas are clean and free of residue.
• Follow and uphold Company GMPS, safety standards, and sanitation protocols at all times.
• Participate in ongoing training and demonstrate understanding of MSDS and safety procedures.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Sanitation Manager.

SQF Requirements:

• Maintain good safety and food quality through completing job tasks and maintaining the work area in a sanitary manner.
• Required to wear food safety and sanitation clothing.
• This position necessitates conformance to personal hygiene regulations.
• Report food safety problems to personnel with authority to initiate action.
• Ensure all programs are being upheld and documentation is current.

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• Experience using industrial cleaning equipment (e.g., buffers, scrubbers, wet/dry vacuums).
• Ability to work independently without supervision and follow established procedures.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking skills.
• Must be able to adapt to changing priorities and work in a team-oriented environment.
• Must pass a company pre-employment background, physical, and drug screen prior to commencing work.

Physical Requirements

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, use hands and stretch and reach with hands and arms. The employee frequently is required to walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to climb ladders and work at heights of up to 100 feet, or balance and smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. Must have full range of body motion. Must have the ability to work in physically demanding conditions for extended periods.

Working Environment

• While performing in this role the individual is regularly exposed to work near moving mechanical parts and is frequently exposed to wet and /or humid conditions and risk of electrical shock.
• Exposure to cold storage, loud machinery, dust, and variable outdoor conditions.
• Employee may come in contact with cleaning chemicals and industrial equipment.
• Occasionally required to work in confined spaces in accordance with safety and regulatory protocols.
• The employee will be required to use all personal protective equipment provided by the Company in compliance with OSHA regulations.
• The employee must obey all safety rules.
