What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2nd Shift - Knit Sew in Operator position at Culp, Inc.?
Position Summary: To work as part of the Knit Finishing Team to produce quality fabric in an efficient and safe manner.
Position responsibilities:
- Use work order to find truck numbers recorded under heading “to frame”.
- Bring the proper trucks (staged in slit area) to the entrance end of the frame; check the MO number written in the end of the piece; sew fabric in with sewing machine.
- Put a “flag” on the right side of the beginning of each lot; notify exit end operator of the new lot.
- Visual check: as each truck of a single lot is sewn in be sure that the “face” is up and that the fabric in each truck matches.
- Return empty truck to the “empty truck” area within the slit area; clean out any debris left over in the truck.
- Immediately notify machine operator and exit end operator of any continues defects.
- Machine upkeep: blow down machine, sweep area, and keep all rollers free of grease and strings.
- Mix finish per sop, clean tanks after use.
- Maintain leader cloth to be sewn in as needed.
- Responsible for fabric quality, frame efficiency, and housekeeping.
- Follows all safety procedures and policies and advises supervision of any unsafe conditions.
- Any other duties as requested by supervision.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Demonstrated proficiency in the operation and proper use of a computer, scanner, entrance and exit end controls of the tenter frame.
- Excellent communication skills.
