About the Role
Culmen International is looking for an AAT Senior Research Technician to support a USAMRIID program at Fort Detrick, MD.
The AAT Senior Research Technician provides comprehensive support for high-containment animal studies, including sample collection, clinical observations, and laboratory analysis.
What You’ll Do in Your New Role
- Collect and process clinical samples from laboratory animals.
- Perform clinical pathology testing and animal health observations.
- Maintain laboratory logs and support necropsy operations.
- Ensure adherence to biosafety and animal welfare protocols.
- Train and mentor junior staff on lab procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in animal science, lab tech, or related field.
- 5 years in BSL-3/4 animal research or biomedical laboratory settings.
- Expertise in animal procedures and clinical pathology.
- Familiar with telemetry systems and physiologic data capture.
- Knowledge of BSL-3/4 containment practices.
- Skilled in aseptic techniques and lab instrumentation.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance and enroll in the Personnel Reliability Program (PRP), if required.
Desired Qualifications
- LATG certification or veterinary technician license preferred.
