Road Technician (Seasonal)

The Cullman County Commission is hiring Seasonal Laborers for the Road Department East Side and West Side (multiple openings). The position will operate trucks, tractors, mowers, side-arm cutters, trimmers, chainsaws and a variety of other hand and power tools for roadside and vegetation maintenance. May operate light equipment to perform semi-skilled work in a training mode. Perform routine manual labor in the repair of county roads as required.Will perform other duties as assigned by the supervisors.

Must Possess

• Reading skills to comprehend operator manuals, directives, procedures, and instructions.
• Defensive driving skills and knowledge of traffic regulations.
• Ability to understand and implement verbal and written instructions.
• Willingness to learn and be trained on skills needed to perform job duties.
• Ability to perform strenuous manual labor, including (but not limited to) operating a chain saw, using axe, bush axe and saw to clear brush, clearing drainpipes, patching potholes, etc.
• A valid Driver License and have a driving record that meets standards set by the county's insurance carrier.
  
  

This is a safety-sensitive position. Successful candidate must pass a pre-employment drug screeningand will be subject to random, unannounced drug testing throughout employment with the County in all "safety-sensitive" positions.
