Workshop Manager

Cullen Jewellery
San Leandro, CA Full Time
POSTED ON 12/1/2025
AVAILABLE BEFORE 3/31/2026

About us:

Founded by Jordan Cullen in 2018, Cullen is an ethical fine jewelery brand focused on exceptional human experiences. As a digital-first business, we blend traditional craftsmanship with modern technology, using the best materials to create timeless pieces.

We’re committed to the environment, crafting every piece with sustainability in mind. Our lab grown diamonds are 100% carbon neutral, and we invest in replanting landscapes and supporting communities globally.

About the position:

This is an exciting new role for a Workshop Manager to join an Australian based company that has recently expanding globally with setting up and overseeing our first US based Workshop. This role blends leadership with hands-on operational oversight- managing a skilled team of jewelers—setters, filers, polishers, and admin staff—while also collaborating closely with other suppliers and our Melbourne Head Office.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • Oversee daily operations within the workshop to ensure that production schedules are met, and workflows are optimised for efficiency.
  • Provide leadership and support to the workshop team, including jewelers, setters, polishers, and trainees, guiding them to consistently deliver high-quality work.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the workshop, identifying and implementing process enhancements to streamline operations and increase productivity.
  • Support the training and development of workshop staff, offering mentorship and technical guidance to help jewellers enhance their skills and meet production quality expectations.
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety regulations within the workshop, addressing any safety concerns promptly to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Manage workshop resources, including tools, materials, and equipment, to ensure they are effectively used and maintained in optimal condition.

What are we seeking?

  • Extensive experience as a jeweler, with proficiency in techniques such as setting, polishing, and repairs, and a strong understanding of workshop processes.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to manage, support, and motivate a team, fostering a productive and collaborative work environment.
  • High attention to detail and quality control experience, with the ability to assess and ensure the quality of jewelery pieces.
  • Advanced fine motor skills and the ability to perform meticulous work under a microscope, ensuring precision and accuracy.
  • Proven experience in identifying and implementing process improvements to enhance workflow and operational efficiency.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively interact with team members, management, and other departments.

What we offer:

In addition to a competitive remuneration package we offer all our team members a range of benefits including:

  • A supportive and collaborative work environment;
  • An Employee Assistance Program for you and a family member to utilise;
  • Generous staff and family / friend discounts;
  • Team events and initiatives included as part of our wellbeing program;
  • Paid volunteer leave, and sponsorship of a child in South East Asia/Africa under your name;
  • The opportunity to join a growing company with a global presence - you really can take your career anywhere!
