What are the responsibilities and job description for the Culinary Class Host position at Culinary Arts Center?
Are you a natural host who loves creating a great experience for guests? We are looking for a Class Host to support our hands-on cooking classes for recreational hobbyists.
This role is about hospitality and logistics. You're the steady presence in the room, making sure guests feel welcome, the class runs smoothly, and the chef can focus on teaching. It's a fun, social role for someone who enjoys people and thrives on staying organized behind the scenes.
How it Works
- The Role: You partner with a Culinary Class Instructor during each class, handling guest needs and logistics so the chef can focus on the food and teaching.
- The Guests: You're the first friendly face guests see. You help them get settled, answer questions, and keep the energy positive throughout the class.
- The Logistics: You assist with things like plating, serving, drink service, and keeping the space running smoothly during class.
- The Cleanup: Focus on the guests and the flow of the class. We have a cleaning crew that comes in afterward to handle the deep cleaning.
Schedule & Flexibility
- Advance Planning: We respect your time. Schedules are finalized about one month in advance.
- Work-Life Balance: This is a flexible role with typically 1 to 4 classes per month depending on the season and your interest.
- Private Events: You'll also have the opportunity to work private/corporate events, which include your base rate plus tips.
What We're Looking For
- People Skills: You're warm, attentive, and genuinely enjoy making guests feel comfortable.
- Organizational Skills: You can juggle several small tasks at once without losing track of the room.
- Composure Under Pressure: You stay calm and helpful even when a class gets busy or something unexpected comes up.
- Team Player: You work well alongside chefs and can read what a class needs in the moment.
- Culinary Knowledge (a plus, not required): Any familiarity with cooking or kitchen terms is helpful but not necessary. We'll teach you what you need to know to support the class.
Why Hosts Love Working With Us
- Social Environment: Every class is a new group of people to meet and a new menu to experience.
- No Cooking Required: You don't need professional kitchen experience, just a knack for hospitality.
- Supportive Environment: The chef handles the food, the cleaning crew handles the deep clean. Your focus stays on the guests.
- Great Income Potential: A competitive flat rate per class plus the potential for tips.
