Your role in our success:

The Emergency Response Team (ERT) Coordinator serves as a critical first point of contact for natural gas and electric emergency situations within the regulated utility service territory. This role is responsible for receiving emergency calls, assessing situations, providing immediate safety guidance, dispatching and coordinating response activities, handling emergency locate ticket dispatching, and communicating with internal operations teams and external emergency services as needed. The coordinator exercises sound judgment in high-pressure situations and plays an important role in protecting the safety of customers, employees, and the communities we serve. The position also supports emergency preparedness initiatives, weather-related response activities, after hours operational support, and compliance with company and regulatory emergency response requirements.

What you'll be working on:

• Serve as the first point of contact for natural gas and electric emergency situations, receiving and responding to emergency calls in a professional, timely, and calm manner. Gather critical incident information, assess the nature and urgency of emergencies, and provide callers with appropriate safety instructions.
• Coordinate emergency response activities by notifying internal operational teams, dispatching emergency work requests, communicating incident details to field personnel, and engaging external emergency agencies such as fire, police, and medical services when appropriate.
• Maintain accurate records of emergency calls, response activities, and actions taken. Prepare incident documentation and reports to support operational reviews, regulatory compliance, and continuous improvement efforts.
• Conduct customer follow-up communications as necessary to confirm resolution, provide additional assistance, and ensure a positive customer experience following emergency events.
• Support emergency preparedness initiatives by participating in training, drills, post-incident reviews, and process improvement activities designed to strengthen emergency response capabilities and readiness.
• Provide support during weather-related events, storm restoration efforts, and other system emergencies, including coordinating communications and operational response activities to support business continuity and customer safety. 
• Ensure compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, company policies, safety standards, and emergency response procedures while performing additional operational support duties and special projects as assigned.

Who you are:

• Knowledge of utility operations, including natural gas and electric service fundamentals, emergency response procedures, safety practices, and applicable regulatory requirements
• Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with customers, employees, field personnel, emergency responders, and external agencies
• Ability to remain calm, exercise sound judgment, and make timely decisions in high-pressure and emergency situations
• Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills with the ability to assess situations, determine priorities, and coordinate appropriate response actions
• Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately document incidents, maintain records, and prepare reports in compliance with company and regulatory requirements
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and business systems, including SAP or similar dispatching and operational platforms
• Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently and collaboratively, adapt to changing conditions, and support evenings, weekends, holidays, and storm or emergency response
• Assignments as required
