Job Details:
We’re looking for a Senior Software Engineering Manager to join our San Diego Based Engineering team. In this role, you’ll lead a local team of engineers responsible for building and scaling software systems that power our mobility platform. This position requires regular presence in the San Diego office to support collaboration and team leadership.
The ideal candidate brings deep expertise in software engineering, particularly in Java and backend systems, along with experience designing distributed architectures and working with large-scale data. You’ll collaborate with peers in product management, architecture, and engineering leadership to drive forward both technical vision and execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and mentor a team of software engineers in Hyderabad, delivering platform services and scalable software systems.
- Drive architectural design and implementation of backend services, APIs, and data-integrated solutions using Java and related technologies.
- Collaborate closely with product managers and architects to align technical solutions with product strategy and business outcomes.
- Ensure high standards for code quality, software reliability, and maintainability across the team’s deliverables.
- Champion engineering best practices and foster a culture of accountability, growth, and collaboration.
Required Qualifications:
- 15 years of industry experience, looking for a seasoned leader from Java background.
- This role is hands on technical (Java) people management who can guide/groom/mentor software engineers.
- Demonstrated success leading software teams (typically 5 or more engineers) in the design and delivery of complex software systems.
- Strong software architecture skills with experience in distributed systems, service design, and data processing at scale.
- Expert-level proficiency in Java, with strengths in system design, data modeling, performance optimization, and backend development.
- Proven ability to hire and retain exceptional engineering talent, fostering a high-performing team culture.
- Experienced mentor and coach, with a track record of developing engineers and supporting career growth.
- Comfortable working across a modern development stack and lifecycle, including CI/CD, version control, and agile methodologies.
- Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to drive alignment across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Must be based in San Diego and able to work from the office regularly.
Cubic Pay Range:
$151,500.00 - $281,500.00 benefits.The Cubic pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
