Cost Estimator
Must possess strong writing, communication, organizational, and time-management skills. The ideal candidate must be a detail oriented, self-starter who can multi task.
Must be proficient in the preparation in Cost Estimation by using information gathered from proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Identifies labor, material, and time requirements by studying proposals, blueprints, specifications, and related documents. Computes costs by analyzing labor, material, and time requirements.
Assist in or lead cost estimating efforts on complex civil, structural as well as mechanical projects.
Perform take-offs and solicit quotes.
Perform production-based cost estimating and provide scheduling information and coordination.
Utilize RS Means or other reliable cost estimating software for smaller price items or non-disciplinary data.
Review in-progress design drawings for constructability issues.
Review specifications for cost-related constructability issues and to evaluate blend between prescriptive language and performance standards.
Provide QA review on work by others.
Position Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Minimum 5 years direct field experience on one or more civil projects.
Experienced in cost estimating and pricing work.
Experienced in construction claims or change order pricing.
Accredited undergraduate degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
Professional registration or certification, or ability to obtain within the 1st year of employment.
Strong analytical and computer software skills.
Specification writing and review.
Structuring of Measurement and Payment.
Scheduling familiarity.
