Job Title: Weld Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Ankeny, IA, 50023
Shift: 1st Shift (7:00 AM – 3:30 PM)
Pay Rate: $35/hour (Entry Level) / $41/hour (2 Years Experience)
Duration: 24 Months Possibility to extend
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Weld Manufacturing Engineer to support product delivery and manufacturing processes for welding operations. This role focuses on designing, implementing, and optimizing weld tooling, robotic systems, and production workflows while ensuring quality, safety, and efficiency on the shop floor.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and procure weld tooling, robotic weld systems, racks, and material handling equipment.
- Develop and optimize manufacturing processes using E-Tools and ensure safe, ergonomic operations.
- Support quality initiatives including FGRs, DPARs, and PFMEAs.
- Drive continuous improvement in welding operations to enhance product performance and reduce costs.
- Develop and implement lean manufacturing cell layouts to improve material flow.
- Support capital and labor estimates, including AFE development and SAP routing updates.
- Assist in new product launches and production ramp-up activities.
- Troubleshoot manufacturing issues and support resolution on the shop floor.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of weld tooling design, robotic/automation systems, and manufacturing line design.
- Experience working with complex welded assemblies and shop floor operations.
- Problem-solving skills with the ability to manage projects from start to finish.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SAP, and 3D modeling tools.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with robotic programming and automated manufacturing cells.
- Proficiency in Creo, SolidWorks, or AutoCAD.
- Knowledge of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing).
- Experience in union environments and shop floor manufacturing processes.
- Understanding of capital equipment justification and budgeting.
- Familiarity with Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP).
Education & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical, or Weld Engineering
- OR
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a technical role supporting automated welding operations
Work Environment:
- Fully onsite role in a manufacturing/shop floor setting
- Approximately 50% of time spent on feet
- Business casual dress code
- Must wear metatarsal safety boots from Day 1
