About the Role
We are seeking a qualified Roman Catholic Priest to provide pastoral care and sacramental ministry at the Marine Corps Air Station (MCAS) New River Chapel in Jacksonville, North Carolina. This is a contracted role contingent upon award of a federal contract. The selected priest will support the Command Religious Program by conducting Catholic worship services, sacraments, counseling, and religious education in accordance with Catholic tradition and the requirements of the U.S. Marine Corps.
This position is contingent upon contract award by the U.S. Government.
Key Responsibilities
- Celebrate Mass every Sunday, Tuesday–Friday, and on Holy Days of Obligation.
- Administer all Sacraments (Baptism, Eucharist, Marriage, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Confirmation in collaboration with the Archdiocese).
- Provide counseling: pastoral, marital, crisis management, and suicide prevention/intervention.
- Conduct funerals, memorials, pre-baptism/marriage classes, and assist with annulment processes.
- Oversee Catholic Religious Education, including sacramental preparation (First Communion, Confirmation).
- Facilitate RCIA/OCIA classes and adult faith formation programs.
- Coordinate with chapel staff on liturgical planning, special services, and seasonal observances.
- Recruit/train liturgical ministers and oversee Sunday bulletin publication.
- Maintain scheduled office hours (Tues–Fri, 8:00 AM–3:00 PM; Sun, 8:00–10:00 AM).
- Participate in chapel staff meetings and Catholic advisory group meetings.
Qualifications
- Roman Catholic priest in good standing with the Diocesan Bishop.
- Letter of Endorsement from the Archbishop of the Military Services, USA (required for consideration).
- Master of Divinity, Master of Theology, or equivalent from an accredited seminary (preferred).
- Minimum 5 years of pastoral experience.
- Strong pastoral, relational, and counseling skills; ability to serve in an ecumenical team.
- U.S. citizenship required.
Additional Information
- This position is contingent upon contract award by the U.S. Government.
- The initial contract period is Nov 17, 2025 – Aug 16, 2026, with the possibility of four one-year option renewals.
- Base access and federal background check required (DBIDS/CAC process).

Pay: $30.00 - $45.00 per hour
