Founded in 2016, Infinite Chemical Analysis Labs’ mission is to provide the cannabis industry with accurate and timely analytical services of exceptional quality while exceeding clients’ expectations. The lab offers a wide range of analytical services for quality assurance and state compliance to uphold brands to the highest standards for premium products. ICAL prides itself on setting the standard for quality cannabis testing across California , Michigan, and coming soon, New York. Additionally, ICAL is expanding its analytical services to the fields of environmental, water, food, beverage, nutraceutical, and agriculture testing. We’ll strive to set the same standard of excellence we’re known for across the entire analytical testing industry.
We are currently seeking an Analyst to join our New York team! Analysts perform state required methods for compliance and produce accurate data results; with this data, Analysts will generate and release reports from their assigned instrument(s). The Analyst will develop the ability to independently perform all routine analyses including instrument calibration and QA/QC. A successful candidate will excel in this position by displaying exceptional attention to detail skills and work hard to deliver precise lab results that can be counted on. This position is a mid-level role within our lab and a great place to exercise your learned skills while contributing towards growing company in an ever expansive industry. This employee will join our day shift working Monday to Friday, 9:00am -5:30pm.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Learn and execute ICAL's established SOPs for sample homogenization of cannabis and hemp products for testing and analysis.
- Learn and execute ICAL's established SOPs for sample preparation of state mandated compliance testing, including but not limited to: potency analysis, residual solvent analysis, terpene analysis, heavy metals, & pesticide analysis.
- When needed/applicable, responsible for preparing samples for analysis, and assisting lab management or technicians by providing support.
- Clean and maintain lab spaces & equipment, including but not limited to: Incubators, Laminar Flow Hood, Homogenizer, Sonicators, Microbiology Medium Prep, and Autoclave.
- Regular use of: Analytical Balance, pH Meter, Moisture Balance, Water Activity Meter, Pipettes, Analytical Syringe, etc.
- Prepares reagents and standards, and prepares samples of various matrices to be analyzed on instrumentation.
- Works closely with lab management on instrumentation operation including batch configuration and sample loading.
- Leads preventive maintenance on equipment and instrumentation to maximize instrument lifetime.
- Dispose of analyzed samples and follow proper chemical waste procedures.
- Ensures exceptional GMP and ISO accredited laboratory practices.
- Ensures Quality Assurance/Quality Control functions of samples.
- Ensure lab safety and that personal protective equipment (PPE) is worn at all times.
- Properly analyze data from instruments, create reports, and enter data accurately in the laboratory information management system (LIMs)
- Personal drive and commitment to upkeep and improvement of Client Satisfaction at ICAL.
- Performs other lab-related projects and research as assigned when applicable. (Method Development & Validation)
REQUIRED EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

- Working knowledge of a broad range of plant medicine products, processes, and cultivation preferred (e.g. Cannabis, Hemp, CBD, and/or Fungi).
- Previous experience working in a commercial laboratory environment and/or in the cannabis industry is a plus.
- Proficiency with either Microsoft Excel or Google Sheets.
- Must be comfortable working with and around cannabis and hemp products.
- Must be at least 21 years old to comply with NY Office of Cannabis Management regulations.
- Must possess a Bachelor's degree in a hard science field, Chemistry preferred. MS/MA degree preferred.
- At least 2 years of laboratory experience in any science industry and/or research field.
- Knowledge of GC, ICP, and/or HPLC analysis/instrumentation.
- At least 2 years of experience with above listed lab instruments and equipment.
- Must not concurrently work in any other part of the cannabis industry.
